Tanya Gillen, who manages The Arcadia, is herself an experienced yoga instructor who spent a year studying at the world-renowned Yoga Therapy Clinic, Krishnanacharya Yoga Mandirin, in Chennai, India. Ever the eternal Student, she has just spent 2 years studying with Internationally acclaimed Yoga teacher Lisa Petersen and is currently studying Somatic Movement.
About the classes
Yoga – this popular exercise focuses on three key areas – strength, flexibility and breathing – and involves adopting a series of postures (asanas) to improve both mental and physical wellbeing. Sustained yoga practice can be beneficial to those with high blood pressure, heart disease, aches and pains and depression/stress.
Pilates – used to build flexibility, strengthen muscles and align the body, Pilates focuses on developing your core/centre. By conditioning core postural muscles, this technique helps to improve coordination and balance.
Tai Chi – a low-impact exercise, Tai Chai is an ancient Chinese Martial Art suitable for all ages, which focuses on deep breathing and relaxation techniques. A great way to reduce stress, improve mobility, balance and muscle strength, Tai Chai uses slow, gentle movements to improve your overall health and wellbeing.
Dance – a great way to relieve stress and loosen up, dance is a fun way to exercise and improve both physical and mental wellbeing. Why not try Zumba, or one of our other seasonal dance classes and get fit the easy way!
